Spice Up Your Life! 5 Tips to Have More Fun

Sometimes, life can feel a little too predictable and monotonous.
We have a strict schedule to follow, the same routine every day, and we tend to forget about our own personal needs in the thick of it all. And now with the pandemic, there’s an even greater lack of variation in our day-to-day lives.
However, it’s so important to remember to incorporate fun and play in everyday life to avoid burning out. To help you do that, we’ve compiled a list of tips to spice up your days, because you deserve to have fun!
1. Shake things up!
First thing’s first, you have to change up your boring routines. Structure is important, but that doesn’t mean we can’t implement more fun events during the week and weekend! Here are some ways to add fun to your daily routine:
-Wake up early and enjoy breakfast outside
-Change up what you eat by making a new recipe or ordering in
-Wear bold colors to improve your mood
-Take a new route on your drive or run
-Get a pet if you have the capacity to care for one
2. Live in the Present!
We often stop ourselves from having fun because we’re too worried about the past or future. Try to focus bringing your attention to the present. Focus on what makes you happy, do those things, and engulf yourself into those activities to make the most of them! Taking a few deep breaths is a great way to remain present.
3. Be open to spontaneity!
Stop focusing on the “perfect time” for everything you do and see what happens when things become a little bit unplanned. Be brave and experiment by learning a new skill, throwing on a movie you’ve never heard of, or going on a last-minute vacation. No need to strategize, just go with the flow.
4. Try new things!
It’s something you hear all the time, but do you actually do it? And this doesn’t need to take a roll on your wallet either. Doing something regularly new will surely make your life more fun. Here are some ideas that you can try out!
-Go on a hike; a new trail or with a new buddy if you hike often
-Watch a new movie
-Plan a scavenger hunt in an unfamiliar area
-Rearrange your bedroom
-Try out new cosmetics, soaps, shampoos, etc.
-Cook a new recipe
So now you know what colors can communicate; it’s important to know when to wear these colors depending on the situation, too!
5. Get out of your head! (Especially if you're shy)
For a lot of people, it’s hard to relax enough to have fun. Social anxiety or being afraid someone might judge you can get in the way of your true potential. To quote Dr. Seuss, remember to "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
